On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, just after 7pm the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with mutual-aid partners, was dispatched to a building fire at Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation, located at 415 Morgnec Road. Kent County Dispatch advised responding units that an initial fire alarm activation had been received from the facility’s alarm monitoring company, followed by a 9-1-1 call reporting an active fire involving a portable heater inside one of the rooms.

With deep, abiding sadness, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Life Member and Past Fire Chief Kenneth Neal. Chief Neal joined the fire company in the 1960’s and was extremely active as a firefighter.

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, at approximately 3:42 pm… The Chestertown VFC… along with multiple mutual aid companies, was dispatched to the serious Motor Vehicle Crash with Injury on Morgnec Road (Maryland 291) near Maiden Lot Farm. This is just east of the “Blue Bridge” across Morgnec Creek.
